12th Annual CBA Conference – Mochi Making Class

Mochi is a popular Japanese dessert made from cooked and pounded rice. At this conference, we learned how to hand-make glutinous sweet rice into five different mochi dishes! These dishes include strawberry mochi, matcha (powdered green tea) mochi, ice cream mochi, and yomogi (mugwort) mochi.

CBA will be hosting our 12th annual event on Sunday, November 3rd from 2:00-4:00 pm at the new J-Sei building in Emeryville. This year will be a fun mochi making class, where you’ll learn how to make 5 different mochi dishes: savory soup, pink rosewater mochi, strawberry mochi, matcha (powdered green tea) mochi, and ice cream mochi. All ingredients will be provided, and in addition to eating mochi you will receive a take-home box of mochi too! Yum!

Please register by October 31st, as we have limited spots available. The cost is $50, and feel free to forward this email to invite your friends and family.

11th Annual CBA Conference – Everyday Wins in the Workplace

Women have made great strides in the workplace, but inequality persists. How can more women be represented at every level in corporate America, especially women of color? Gender diversity could be the key to any company’s success. Diversifying a variety of top positions, specifically executive roles, is more than a movement to level the corporate playing field — it’s about using the best resources to maximize every organization’s potential.

This year’s theme is “Everyday Wins in the Workplace“. Lori Nishiura Mackenzie, Executive Director of the Clayman Institute at Stanford, will be the keynote speaker discussing gender diversity in corporate America. Lori was a judge earlier this year at the Queen Program and is an amazing speaker!
